The home grown gauge could be no more accurate than the one in the machine. It could be -1 and the machine could be +1. If the measurements are static without a flow through PF, probably both gauges are inaccurate.

If both tests are done using a blind filter and a equilibrium pressure is reached, then there should be same pressure at both points, the difference in mentioned in the faq is between static and actual extraction.

Sounds like there is a difference in the gauges.
