Noticeable that all the new high end machines have the exposed legs and raised above the counter style, like a classic Kees VDW. The LM lever is interesting, not very pleasing to my eyes, but it is just a prototype I guess. I am sure if you took away that see through plastic and replaced it with mirror steel or the like it would look a lot better.

Thanks for the videos Frank. I did see in your Strada video a "GS style" GS3. Very cool. I always thought the GS3 was rather unbalanced looking and the plastic trim above the cup warmer area would have completed the design like on the original.

I must say, that is one good looking smexy machine!
I'm more of an ECM -kinda guy, I like their details of the portafilter and group head as well as having gauges at top - but damn, this is nice. Closest ECM-rival would be Classika but it's only a single boiler whereas this is a HX so this will be in a whole other class.

The small dimensions makes it very interesting for those that doesn't have as much counterspace!

Yes, I like Appartamento so much, especially the very classic steam and water wands knob( just like the Vintage Faema ). I think the ECM Germany and Profitec Germany and Rocket are manufactured by same Italy espresso company. :D

I'm talking about ECM Heidelberg. The ECM you linked to is, simplified, the Rocket Espresso you know today, as far as how I understood it :)

Interesting that ECM (Heidelberg) launched an e61 DB, because there already seemed to be some overlap with sister company Profitec's offerings. Now with this ECM DB and the Profitec Pro700, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference at first glance. I guess if they share all the same parts it's an inexpensive way to manufacturer another model, but not sure why they even bother to operate as separate companies.

Well, if you want to go 100% cynical and business about it, imaging a hypothetical customer in the market for such a machine. And he makes a shortlist of machines to pick. Previously, ECM/Profitec had 1 machine on that shortlist. Now they have two.

hmmm, I wouldn't say my post was cynical, but I am curious from a business standpoint if that was their goal or if the two companies have separate objective or targets and if the machines have more differences than meet the eye. I'm a big fan of ECM, I own one, just curious is all

It looks like the Dual-75 and the Pro 700 are very close. But hey, it happens all the time in the automotive industry. They may be priced slightly differently, with slight differences, mostly cosmetic. For example, the ECM has joystick valves; the gauges are on top; the portafilter has the classic ECM look instead of the more nondescript Profitec one.

As for the Rocket R60V, making it WiFi-controllable is an even more interesting proposition than their plug-in PID controller. It's a great idea to keep the face pristine while allowing complex controls. If my porchlight switch is now WiFi-controlled with a nice app, why not a $4k espresso machine.
