Tim Wendelboe is starting an exciting new project growing coffee. The farm has been named finca el Suelo that means "the soil". It's located in El Vegon near Pital and la Plata in Huila. Altitude ranges from 1650 to 1700 meters above sea level. The farm has had no coffee on it and just grazed some cows in the past. I met with Tim back in nov. and had a great discussion on how coffee should be grown in the future. Tim will be growing by monitoring and strategically enhancing the microbial life in the soil while developing the supporting plant life ecosystem. The soil will also be brought to the appropriate succession for the coffee. All the needed nutrients will be properly generated from the soil. No fertilizers, supplements, pesticides, herbicides. The first planting is happening over the next 3 weeks.
You can now follow the new finca on twitter, @fincaelsuelo

I wish he would ask for "investors." I would love to be an "owner" of a coffee farm!
