Built my own full range speakers (Lowther)
Soon to build a horn loaded sub
Built my own Tube Amp with a twist as it can interchange with 4 different tube types for different styles of music
Made my own plinth for my Garard turntable and will make another soon with a laminated rubberised cork just to see and hear if it makes my listening experience better
Made my own gold bearings for my tone arm

All that said its worth more than both my new car and my coffee set up

With regards to my coffee habit
I just like to tinker & make things work for me the way I like it

I have slightly tweaked my coffee machine
Modded my grinder with more to do as its a work in progress
Designed and made my own coffee roaster

All that said and done
All the stuff I do makes me happy & keeps my mind & body young as I am half a century old

Hmmmm...perhaps we have another similarity. Tinkering - or at least, the desire to tinker. Another way of saying tinkering is "tweaking" and this is definitely a part of the audio experience.

List of tweaks on my current espresso machine:
1. Modded for direct water hook-up (actaully, I use the supplied Expobar water tank as an external tank)
2. Added separate relay to control the heating element (internally circuitry changed, by others, accordingly)
3. Re-routing of the water OP line to the drip tray (since the water tank is external)
4. Insulation of the boiler
5. Covering of the water tank hole in the top of the unit to provide more room for cup warming.

List of (some) of the tweaks on my current stereo set-up:
1. Added tube dampers to the pre-amp tubes
2. Added Tip Toes beneath my TT
3. Filled the Spendor speaker stands with 00 lead shot (~20# in each...or was that 40#?)
4. Spiked said stands on bottom with carpet piercing spikes
5. Added upward facing spikes to top of stands
6. Custom made arm mounting jig for mounting MMT tonearm to Logic DM 101 TT
7. Added Orsonics headshell to MMT arm
