Great article. Thanks for the link. In moderation (1-3) drinks per day, I think coffee is not going to cause any health problems. As with most foods/drugs that can cause health problems, moderation is the key.

Saw this the other day too. I knew some of it because a few years ago I did a paper about the beneficial factors of coffee. Another rumor--semi-involving caffeine-- is that coffee stunted your growth if you drank it as a kid, the rumor is completely false.

I wish the article went into caffeine tolerance. I'm a victim of it. When I began, I got a nice boost and a clear head. Now I have a cup and it makes me want to take a nap. I can have a cup or even two right before bed and sleep well. Better than a glass of wine.

From what I read, if I quit for a week or so, I'll get back the normal effects. However, the tolerance returns quickly, so what's the point.

Oddly, if I drink a few ice teas I can feel the effects of the caffeine. I wonder if its a bit different?

I wonder if this sort of thing isn't similar to how smokers think that a cigarette relaxes them, despite being a stimulant... the effect, if I recall correctly, is caused by the "normal" state being symptoms of temporary withdrawal and it's the abatement of these symptoms which is perceived as a relaxed state.
