Haha! I did the same thing! The ProM is pretty amazing. I'm having to buy a new portafilter basket because the one that comes with the Silvia is too small. The ProM produces grind that's too fluffy!

I have an Alex Duetto on order... but I have to ask, how is it pairing up with your Andreja? There's a 6 week wait on the Duetto, so I've been considering the Andreja. What coffee are you using? I haven't had any luck dialing in the ProM yet, so a brutha kbow what settings you find success with.

Thanks!

(I might go back on Sunday. There are booths I totally missed!)

I'll let you know this morning. I have been home roasting some Colombian Peaberry I got from a local roaster (Mitalena Coffee.) and I think that is what I have right now.

I think I saw you started your dial in at 3. I will try that soon, and let you know.

If that doesn't work, try dialing down to 1-1/2 or 2. For sure the ProM requires interrupting the grind once or twice to rap the portafilter on the bar to settle the fluffy grinds, so you can fill the basket properly.

I can't get the grind fine enough. There seems to be a hard stop at 0, but the burrs are certainly not kissing there.

I have not searched the forum yet, but there must be a way to re-zero this grinder.

It is quiet and fast, but I just wish it were finer!

Found the recalibration instructions here:

Mahlkoenig Pro-M User Reports?

(I hate to take credit for work that is not mine. That leads you to another HB post, which links to a pdf file. I recalibrated this afternoon, and the ProM works great. Thanks again!)

Just returned from the SCAA expo again. As I was walking out I caught a guy with a new Pro-M in his hand. He tells me that he got it for $800!! Granted, it was in the final hour of the expo, so they were kinda trying to unload their inventory. But, WOW! Congrats to that sob!

I returned to see if I could get a deal on an espresso machine. Sure enough, talked to the pretty lady with a sexy Italian accent (I'm a total sucker for that!) at the La Spaziale booth... next thing I know I've ordered a Mini Vivaldi II. It'll be a few days before I get my hands on it, but I feel it was a steal. Pretty happy about this! Woot!

"how would you rate your buying experience?"

- I gives it a TEN!

Congrats on the new machine - that's gonna pair up nicely with your Pro-M!

cheers,

The biggest feeding frenzy at the end of the Expos is usually the Bodum booth, where they sell absolutely everything for half price, cash only. The scene is pretty much like Friday morning after Thanksgiving at Walmart.

Glad everyone had a good time! I certainly did.
