I stumbled upon what I've seen as the first real video coverage of SCA 2017 at CNET of all places, just published a few hours ago. I thought others might appreciate it.

General survey of new coffee tech: https://www.cnet.com/videos/look-at-thi ... m-seattle/

New Motif line of drip brewers from Bonavita: (https://www.cnet.com/videos/meet-the-ne ... -machines/)

New Breville drip brewer and $2500 Oracle Touch Espresso Machine: (https://www.cnet.com/videos/brevilles-c ... precision/)

Though I'm not personally interested in it, the Oracle Touch looks pretty impressive with an advanced grinder, distributor, and tamper chamber: http://www.vimeo.com/206171688

Seattle Coffee Gear posted a video on Facebook from the expo. It includes a visit to the Slayer booth and a look at the new Baratza Sette 30.

I only had limited time on the floor, I do have a review of the show from my perspective on my website in the "blog section" in Chapter 149.

Nice write up, Randy. Did you by chance see anything from Mahlkönig in your time there? I was still holding out for the possibility of the EK43 Barista showing up eventually.

Oh yeah, no question there. Still, it will be an excellent option for some.

My reaction was a bit different. Other than it's insanely complicated and probably far past most people to even consider fixing, is that the best automated coffee distribution and tamping system ever? And secondly, does it have good enough burrs to make it all worthwhile. Can't tell from the picture or the video, and the comment about being able to deal with stale beans worries me unless that just means there's a pressurized basket if needed. But truthfully if the grinder is acceptable, that's probably the perfect machine for a large segment of the population.

Fwiw all brevilles come with regular and pressurised baskets. The previous Oracle users burrs from their smart grinder
Kind regards,
