Replacing Vibe Pump Advice Needed

Postby Spitz.me on Tue Jun 14, 2011 10:33 am

Is there anything that I need to know before going through this? I don't know what's wrong with my pump, and I have a spare. I took the paneling off and it looks like it'll be quite the job.

Is there stuff I need to know/do before I start disconnecting the current one and replacing it? It doesn't look easy... Not the way Grimac shoved it into the bottom of the machine there...

Get brass replacements for any plastic parts. Plastics baked @ 130°F+ for several years tend to become brittle and easily broken when working in cramped quarters

Unplug it.
Seriously, though, try connecting the pump outside the box, extending the wires as needed, to see if the new pump runs when you're supposed to have pump running. Do this for a *very* short period of time, just to insure that it is, in fact, the pump that is bad. If the new one does not run, you have other issues to solve before replacing the pump.

If it does run, *then* you can start the difficult task for replacement.
