Saw a post in the shaving site I go to about fountain pen and next thing you know I'm signed up in a fountain pen forum too. I've only got one, the Lamy Safari, yellow, and 3 bottles of ink. Noodler's Walnut, Nightshade, and some green thing which I'm not digging.

I turn those as well. Make them for strightrazordesigns.com

This one is not wood, but black gemstone with gold veining. Very difficult to turn on a wood lathe. They actually suggest you spin them on a metal lathe. Sanded out through 12000 micro mesh and renaissance waxed. Nice heavy pen but some of the wood ones are just as nice.

The filigree on the endcap is awesome, too.

Dave,

Don't know if you care or have time, but being from Lancaster PA (parents work in Coatesville) we should meet up since we have some similar interests.

Anyways, here are my passions:

Kitchen knives: http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/showt...id/831732/
Coffee (of course)
Mountain biking: Giant XTC HB3
Shaving...DE's and Straights
Scuba: PADI Divemaster #260774 I love uw photography but my camera is on a canon p&s (i've lived in Guam last 3 years and visited Palau)
Baking but that is not expensive
Watches: Oris, Tag, Movado, about ready to buy my first Rolex

Got lots of other initial investments but yet to venture like woodworking, art, and audio. Luckily the military enables my travel bug.

While hobbies and interests come and go with us, our real passion is our pets, and for me that is mainly our German Shepherds. Finances do not allow us to have as many as we would like, but we currently have two. The most recent was adopted two days ago. He was owned by a friend and she wanted to find a home where he would get more attention.

Randy,

Great picture of Rommel - I don't think I've ever seen that much character captured in a pet's face. I think he's found a great home.

OK, now for another passion of mine... just wish I had more time to ride the one in foreground, which I just built up. Stiff, lively, stable, light - by far, the best frame I've ever ridden :D - and I've ridden, and raced, many (steel, aluminum, carbon, titanium).Image
The older Litespeed closer to the garage door has been "relegated" to being my commuter during the winter, and wetter times (Yes, we do get rain here in Sunny Southern California! In fact, we're just starting a week that should have rain every day... Bummer when you've got a new ride). On it is a Lupine lighting system which, for all the other cyclists on HB, is absolutely amazing. Nice to have cars flashing me to "turn off my high-beam"

With the encouragement of my girlfriend, I've become the home barista in another respect: mixing cocktails. Among my faves: Sazerac, Sidecar, Cointreau Margarita, Negroni, Vesper, Hendrick's "Unusual" Negroni, Aperol Spritz, Mojito!

For a while last year I explored fine cigars, too, for ex., by Arturo Fuente, Rocky Patel, etc. My tastes are clearly philistine, for I realized the cigar I enjoyed most was a cheap Havana Honey, which to cigar snobs is beyond the pale! Ultimately I decided booze & coffee were more cost-efficient pleasures. :D

In addition, I write screenplays, historically-based dramas. I have two scripts underway: one about the later life of T.E. Lawrence, the other about an American journalist covering the Spanish Civil War. My previous version of the latter script won a writing award. My girlfriend also teaches screenwriting at the Academy of Art and got a short film into the Tribeca Film Festival. So I'm in good company.

Ciao,
Wayne

Rommel, fitting German name. My pooch is a white lab, loves to chase critters in the woods, then we shoot them. He goes by Charley, Charles on AKC.
