My inexpensive take on the bean cellar

So I do not intend to add fuel to the lw bean cellar debate fire, just wanted to share my simple take on the bean cellar to show anyone interested in making one what I did. It was real easy, and supplies where pretty cheap glued together pieces of wood to make a block, drilled the holes, even gave it a charr to darken the wood. The beans are held in test tubes with rubber stoppers. My interest was piqued by both the aesthetics and the functionality of the bean cellar but it was really out of my price range so I decided to make my own inexpensive version of it, hopefully anyone in the same situation can get an idea from this.

What size test tubes are those, and how much do they hold?

I don't know if there is a standard of test tube sizes but these are 20 centimeters tall and an inch in outside diameter. In the pictures they are holding 18.5 grams, as you can see they can probably hold quite a bit more.

Do the tubes have a round or flat bottom?

They have rounded bottoms, however I weigh the beans in a cup and fill the tubes in the wood with a funnel so this is really not a problem.

It costs around 4000-12000 rupiah in indonesia
Great idea rober1217, might find some time to make one myself.

I think I spent around $20 bucks on materials total so it was around 10x cheaper than the real bean cellar

I think this is going to be my next project after making my knockbox "box", maple joined with box joints to look nice.
