Looking for freestanding home setup

Postby orangecat on Mon Aug 21, 2006 8:31 pm

I have a Gaggia Espresso and a Mazzer Mini (plus a La Pavoni grinder I use for grinding beans for the french press). I don't have a lot of counter space so I was thinking of getting some sort of freestanding, rolling cart that I can keep all the equipment on. Trouble is I have no idea where to begin to look for one. I think I need one at least three feet tall so I can work everything without stooping. Any ideas?

Thanks.

The threads Espresso Shrines and Photos of Kitchen Coffee Set-up on CG will give you lots of ideas. Ron_L posted a picture of a nice cart that he mentioned costed around $300. Looks like the size you need. Although they don't stock many ready-made carts, IKEA has lots of options for small kitchen systems that are inexpensive and can be mixed-n-matched (bought some when I was renting and for cabinets in the garage).

Once upon a time, long ago and far away in another land, I used an assemble-it-yourself microwave oven cart ~$175 http://tinyurl.com/zm2tc. I put the machice and grinder on the top shelf and kept portafilters, baskets, grinder brushes, tampers, etc. on the lower shelf.
