Looking for coffee related categories

Postby Arpi on Thu Apr 21, 2011 3:12 pm

Hi.

Since coffee and wheels are tied together somehow (ie. round cupping table, etc), artisan software will incorporate a tool to plot user made wheel graphs by using a graphic interface. Wheel graphs help visualize data that can be broken down into categories, which in turn are broken into components or subcategories. I am looking for categories that are part of the coffee world, or that may contain some coffee educational perspective (specially interested in roasting). Any ideas would certainly be appreciated. These are some quick examples

This is a coffee roasting graph based on a Jim Schulman's HB post. Thanks Jim.

Hi all. One more :)

This one tries to describe a roasting system using artisan software

Image

Wheel 1

Data: Information collected

Knowledge: The how of roasting from an engineering and chemical perspective.

Understanding: The why of roasting from a flavor perspective.

Wheel 2

Conditions: Initial conditions that influence the roast.

Inputs: Control variables that the operator can change. Input events (power, fan, damper are placed in a timing diagram) and ET.

Output: The BT profile and its benchmarks (first crack, time, etc)

Behavior: How the roaster behaves and how it achieves its goals.

Analysis: Phases, profile and their effect on flavor.

Models: types of roasts.

Decisions: Flavor versus control decisions
