Latte cup trouble

Postby duke-one on Thu Oct 06, 2011 9:47 pm

I've had trouble with a couple different latte cups that I've ordered online. First from Amazon a pair of latte size cups, said to be lead free glassware: they were plastic. Got a half refund and promise to fix the info on the page (not done yet). Then ordered from Bodum, waited, waited, called and was told they were on the truck for delivery today. Called again three days later was told same story again, no cups. Anyone else order from Bodum or get plastic when expecting glass?

Nope and nope. I usually deal with resellers and avoid the dealing directly with a manufacturer. A vendor tends to be more responsive to questions. I do have a set of the Bodum's, a couple actually but I don't use them for coffee any longer. The lab glass insulates so good that the drink stays undrinkable hot for quite some time. They do work good for cold drinks.

Update: Amazon has halted sale of the "lead free" glassware that is plastic, the page is still there but they are not taking orders till they straighten out the info. Bodum cups arrived one very nice the other in tiny pieces. Couple of e-mails later they sent another pair both perfect. Nice cups but so thin I'm a bit affraid to use them.

They are a bit fragile compared to porcelain, but I use the ones that are probably "latte size" at work for my drip without incident. I lost one of the "espresso size" ones to a Poodle that is learning to make espresso (having problems holding the cup in his paws, apparently), but the others have survived well on sake duty. Like Dave, I find they insulate too well for many uses.
