Former World Barista Champion, roaster and much-followed writer and speaker, James Hoffmann, has announced that his The World Atlas of Coffee will be published in October. He posted some thoughts about it today at http://www.jimseven.com/2014/08/06/comi ... as-coffee/.

He says:
The book isn't about me, or about Square Mile Coffee, but just about coffee. The book is divided into three sections: an introduction to coffee in general, a section on brewing techniques (aimed at making professional standards accessible and worthwhile to home users) and then the atlas section, with individual countries divided by continent.

And already it's the #1 Bestseller in ... Atlases.

What an undertaking! Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Mine is pre-ordered. We are fortunate to have people like James Hoffman among us who have two key ingredients: knowledge and passion for coffee. I can't wait to learn.

May order one, along with Rao's coffee roasters companion. Could make use of it with the new roaster.

Probably a good combo. James doesn't cover a whole lot on roasting specifics, but the rest of the book is quite good. I think it's a bargain at $24.
