FWIW, I'm not sure that you really need more hardness (more Ca and Mg ions) in the water, so if it were me I'd just stick with that CG from the Weed source.
Thanks. This answers my Q about sulfates from the other thread.

I'm greedy of course, wanting the best taste/machine-pampering water I can buy or engineer without sacrificing too much space or my sanity. :)

I will probably try several avenues. You've been a great help.

In thinking about this, I ran the numbers for Weed again in the LM calculator. Good indeed, in terms of machine pampering. "Slightly corrosive but non-scaling." However, this is with pH at 7.1 or above (CG says 7.3 to 7.4). Was it you who informed me that pH settles toward 7 after exposure? Because when I use those Weed numbers and go from 7.1 to 7.0, the little result box turns red, with a message "Heavy corrosion."

So ... Yuki is worried. :D

Don't let that LM water calculator advice worry you. Not exactly sure how it comes up with those red warnings but I think it should not be taken seriously. If you enter the numbers for rpavlis' safe and non-corrosive 1 mmol/L potassium bicarb solution (pH 7.1, alkalinity 50, hardness 0, chloride 0) it comes up with a bright red "corrosion intolerable" warning.

For the Weed water alkalinity of 44-55, the equilibrium pH would be between 7.0 and 7.1. Nothing to worry about there.

Good to hear. I did play with the LM some more, and it turns red at 7.03 (7.04 is okay).
