www.ptscoffee.com: without the love, it's just coffee

Google+ Project

I'm not in yet (couldn't get an invite) but this Google+ thingie is probably the most interesting internet development in a while. See http://plus.google.com for an idea what this is all about.

If I got this right, it could mean changes are coming to the way we share info about our espresso addiction hobby. Imagine this: you have H-Bers on one G+ "circle", you share a few espresso-related images from your Italy trip with them via a drag/drop while the rest of the Italy trip images are only accessible to your "F&F" "circle". Now compare that to reposting these images here on H-B. Another example: we're a small group here, if we were to have some collective H-B G+ circle in the future, we wouldn't need to post here for casual observations/questions, we'll just do it in our G+ "circle" and post here only for the most interesting stuff.

I haven't got my hands (or mind) on this yet, and it could just be the 4 Ethiopia SO shots talking, but I think this is going to disrupt the whole internet, including us here on H-B, in six months or so.

is this "just another social network"? It could still be cool though.

I'm trying it out just now. It seems really good, just a question of getting people to move from Facebook

FaceBook and Twitter were never worth my time, and I never joined. This one however looks different. I think it's designed for normal social adults and not teenagers and marketers.

Plus, I see enough of technological difference in G+ that's going to change things around, well, everywhere. But then, maybe it's just my imagination as I didn't try it yet.

It shouldn't be too hard to get people off of facebook, I've talked to a lot of my friends/family and this comic basically sums up their feelings about G+

If you PM your Gmail-adress I can try sending invites, although it seems like the invites are a bit on-off on-off :D

Alright, I've added you to a circle and shared a post with you. You should receive an email, but I know it can take while.

I know a person can have a circle or more to organize their contacts, but can a group of people form one circle too? Like a group (or forum ;) )?

Update: got your invite, you sent it correctly but G isn't ready to honor them yet it seems:

I've been playing around with it a bit. After experimenting with Facebook and Twitter, this one sort of makes sense, and I was interested in possibly joining any coffee group that may come out of this. However, Google now says they won't allow any private profiles after July 31. They want your name and gender to be searchable. Is my only alternative to start up a separate Google account that doesn't use my real name?
