Doesn't quite meet the definition of crazy, but it's a crazy-wonderful little story.. Thought I'd share it anyway.

Chicco e Cereza
http://www.espressomadeinitaly.com/it/s ... -caffe.php

An Italian children's book about a coffee cherry from south America that aspires to become a quality roasted coffee bean and meets a roasted coffee bean from Italy who then proceed to have adventures together.

It teaches children about the entire coffee life cycle farm to cup. Distributed by Enrico Maltoni it's proceeds go to fund AROP, an association in Rimini for children's leukemia.

I got me a copy.

IMS posted an Instagram video of a work-in-progress bottomless filter basket that pours like a double spout with some sort of divider in the middle. So many questions.

If the divider goes all they way up you could actually make two different drinks that way, probably not very well, but you could make them nonetheless.

Wow, that's pretty cool! I'd buy one in 55mm for my Portaspresso. I often want to split shots with co-workers, but cannot since there is no double spout portafilter for it.

That's actually a really good point. I can't split shots in the EspressoForge either, but this basket would let me do that.

Maybe it's not so crazy after all, there's a thread started on this basket here: Double naked filter from IMS

I almost never split my shots, and I don't have a machine that takes the more common basket sizes so my first thought was why, but I guess it beats passing a demitasse back and forth.

.. and eliminates the hassle of pouring half of the liquid of one cup into another cup which is the most dreaded thing to take place on a coffee bar, whether at home or in a cafe.

I remember when I started with espresso ordering the brew bells to pull my shots into and then pouring them into my demitasse. That didn't last long, but it used to be standard practice, it seemed.
