Coffee as palate cleanser?

You heard right, coffee to cleanse the nose from fruit aromas, not vice versa.

Any of the wine mavens ever hear of this one?

Actually, it's quite common. I've often seen a bowl of coffee beans on the counter where cologne and perfume are sold (even at the local Co-op grocery store).

It works very well to "reset" one's sense of smell.

Maybe that's what I can use the stale beans I bought yesterday for :x . Won't be able to get a decent shot out of them.
