This is a new 'technique' used to spice up otherwise fairly sparse footage. Known in the industry as the nausiedit.
It's a sure sign that the production people have no idea what it is that they're shooting/editing. I would really love to direct some of the videos about coffee that I'm seeing lately. Between the lack of a coffee expert on the crew, and the lack of a military expert on the crew, I'm not sure which is my biggest pet-peeve for content vs production value.
