Tom,

Great score! And thanks for saving another piece of art from espresso days gone by. Can't wait to see more pictures as it looks to be in fantastic shape for its age.

And the second adventure, hinted at in the previous post. Freshly back from a day trip up to Sonoma, where I grabbed two working (albeit in need of a serious cleaning) K30's. Their condition isn't great, but their prices were. I'll clean them up and likely consider doing a repaint, and swap in new burrs if needed, but I thought it would be really cool to have two very quiet good quality grinders for Jim's lecture on espresso at CoffeeCon. Dustin and I are going to be doing the monkey work while Jim gives the lecture. I thought having 2 identical grinders dialed in with 2 different coffees, or maybe the same coffee at pre programed different doses/coarseness, would be quite cool. But it all depends on their condition when I get them stripped down and cleaned up.

After CoffeeCon, I'll resell them. With a bit of luck, I might have my new Compak E10 before the 26th, but these are a good insurance policy.

(you can see Erna Knutsen's Golden Gate Bridge photo she gave me, right behind the grinders)

Thanks, yeah it was a pretty epic Craigslist day. I was doing a lot of hand wringing, of course for the LSM, the seller is a probate attorney and is very busy. It was hard to connect with him, and I was very worried that it wasn't going to be what it claimed. And as silly as it may sound, until I had in car and was driving away, I didn't believe it.

When he said that it would fit in my car, "no problem" I actually started doubting that it was what it claimed. I was driving over, partially convinced that I was going to pull up and find some kind of odd replica or toy. My knees got a tad weak and I had to hold my composure when I walked up and saw it sitting on a wooden, wheeled dolly.

It's not a 58mm, it might be a 53mm. I am wondering if I'll be able to find portafilter gaskets for it.

I'll do some cursory cleaning and documenting over the next few days.

So sick. It's exactly what we all hope for when we see those estate sale listings on CL - just so rare for it to yield such a jewel!

Great scores, Tom, and it sounds like you had do do some work and chasing down, so you earned 'em. Congrats.
