Walking a few steps with the Lunar is a piece of cake then.
I guess I am also old - knowing what you are talking about? I owned a Sony WM-F1 Walkman (the first hybrid tape/FM radio), the D2 Discman, and I still have the D25S high end Walkman (coupled with a Headroom Cosmic Headphone Amplifier). I remember you could jolt the Discman laterally so they wouldn't skip but no running. But my favorite was the short lived Minidisc. I had the MZ-N1 which was the first that had NetMD - the predecessor to iTunes... Shame to see where is Sony today...

That said, they were all usually dry as well as tethered to us users somehow (clip, noose, etc.). The Acaia isn't tethered and often wet. Also, as a teen I did drop the WM-F1 at least a few times (but not the Discmans).

Sent back the Lunar and provided the manufacturer some feedback. They said they are working on improvements to the app and will consider adding grippy stick on feet.

I replaced the Lunar with the Smart Weigh Top500 which I actually like better, even though it costs $200 less. The scale is thinner (which makes it easier to place or remove a cup under the PF spouts), lighter, and does not slide around on the drip tray.

Here is the link in case anyone is interested:

Good Buy! BTW - How is the corner loading offset for the scale at 0.01gr range? (if you put a reference 100gr weight at each of 4 corners, what is the maximum offset you get?)

I picked up a Lunar scale last week and am frustrated that the scale will sometimes stop timing midway through a shot on the "square + triangle" auto start mode.

Has anyone found a setting to kill the auto stop function of the timer in this mode? This would be the most helpful upgrade to my work flow...

Hi [anonymized],

I've found that propping the demitasse on a block to get it closer to the portfilter has eliminated 99% of my issue of the timer stopping early with my Rocket machine. No issues on my new La Marzocco. Go figure...

I received my Lunar about 10 days ago. I really like the look and feel of the scale; it seems well made.

However, I am also frustrated in the Lunar's operation -- or, more accurately, lack of operation. The primary reason I bought the scale was for its function number 4: Dual Mode: Auto-Start + Auto Tare (the droplet and square icon). No matter how quick or long my pour is, the timer stops at 15 seconds!

I have read the manual and did not find anything that addressed this problem. Also, I have simulated an actual use with the scale on my desk. When I place a weight on it (simulating a cup), the auto-tare function works and the timer starts counting up. But, no matter how quickly or slowly I add additional weights, the timer still stops at 15 seconds.

I wish I could express my concerns to the manufacturer, but I haven't found a way to contact them. What is a good contact email address for them?

So, for me, I am now the proud owner of a very expensive manually operated timer that also functions as a scale.

Support has been responsive. I was seeking new features and they got back to me as they said they would.

The feature you are using, I use daily. The only time the timer stops is if the pour is too slow. I think there was a setting for this sensitivity though.

The scale is really sensitive. If it does not auto Tare after picking it up and placing it on the drip tray, hit both timer and Tare buttons at the same time. Some times the setting down is detected as a reading.

Hello. I am new to this forum and have been looking at the Acaia Lunar too.

Is it possible to download the the weight versus time data onto a computer (i.e., a spreadsheet)? It seems like the capability is there but I have not heard anyone mention it. Thanks.

Glad i saw this thread before i purchased one. Will hold off for perhaps version two. I was a kickstarter backer of the original and the new version that they sent me when mine broke down has a few little tweaks that makes life much better.
