Thanks, and I agree, it is :) It's basically a steel pipe, sawed off on the side to hold a glass bathroom sink shelve, and a towel bar for handle.

MSH wrote:Agreed 100%. I started on a Behmor and quickly grew tired of the lack of control and unnatural acts I had to perform to try and tailor the profile the way I wanted it. Don't get me wrong...great little roaster and I roasted some incredible coffee, but if the goal is to really elevate your game and have complete control of the roasting process the Behmor is not the route to go IMO

BTW - i admire your MacGyver skills! As others have noted a sweet set-up

Not quite. I really only have control over the cooling. The temp probe only let me know I preheated. It was 10-20'F off at least to the roast temp. Stirring would throw off the probe... I am upgrading to a behmor becuse I want to learn more about profilling and taste. I will also be buying a larger commercial roaster in the next few years. I am willing to let go of some control because the roaster I intend to buy later is an automatic so it will be roughly the same idea. If only the behmor allowed temp control.. ;/

Burner0000,
Forget all the profile buttons on the Behmor..
I have one for sale if you must..
If your plan is to go bigger down the road buy a Hot Top is works much like a pro roaster fan or power at any time..
The Behmor most folks say just use P1 power on 100% and open and close door for control..

If I showed my setup you'd see a lame looking whisk, a dog bowl, an oven mitt and a REALLY cheap and underpowered heat gun. It would look more like I was going to be preparing Creme brullee instead of roasting coffee!

Working on getting a used Hottop though!

You guys sold me.. lol! I did some more research and you guys are right. Hottop is just what I am looking for and should last a LONG time. I read people have roasted literally over a ton of coffee and or lasted 10 years before breaking down. Behmor would only be a good buy if I decide later on to get lazy or try roasting and selling by the pound if it's even possible to do so with the Behmor.
