We haven't edited a brief power outage out of the video yet, but here's the YouTube link of Dave and Joe Marrocco roasting and cupping that Yemen Marqaha today:
The production values aren't great, but the content is spot on. Give it a shot, but remember to laugh with us, not at us.
Dave and Joe are planning to do the same thing with an exceptionally nice Guat on a Huky next month.

Whoa....I haven't even watched it all yet (DO let us know when it has been fixed) and I've learned a whole lot.
Who's gonna be driving the HUKY????
Will it have a solid or a perforated drum?
Please please please say perforated ....)))))

Great presentation and this will be a very useful resource for folks so I really appreciate you guys doing it. I embedded the video in your post for you.
I have two roasts on the new Marqaha under my belt, yesterday upon arrival, and one more today. The hard part is the waiting, but I can already tell that this crop year likely exceeded last years, so I'm expecting great things.
I enjoyed a very long visit with Mokhtar Alkhanshali yesterday, and we talked Yemeni coffee for hours. I even gave him a sample of this crop ( roasted), and he gave me a green sample of one of his. The guy knows his Yemen's

We're borrowing what I remember as a solid drum version (although mostly what I remember is burning myself every time I touched it ) , but if you want to loan us yours next month instead, I'm game.SJM wrote:Whoa....I haven't even watched it all yet (DO let us know when it has been fixed) and I've learned a whole lot.

So, "Ove Gloves" are pretty indispensable when working with the Huky. At least that's my experience. Lucky for me, I'm just about to change over from my perforated to my solid drum.

And I got rid of my solid drum HUKY altogether.bean2friends wrote:S I'm just about to change over from my perforated to my solid drum.
I'm into the perforated configuration for the long haul.

Joe will be driving, though I will have my welder's gloves in case of emergency (grins). I have an email into his box (he may be out teaching for a few days). I will find out solid/perforated and let you know Susan.SJM wrote:...

Tom, thanks for the kudos. Joe is a delight with whom to work and is so knowledgeable. The series of featured coffees will be something that hold interest, I assure you.

You will definitely have more background noise when you use the HUKY )))
I think more people stateside have the HUKY with the solid drum, so I won't be at all surprised if that is what you have for next month.
It makes learning with the perforated drum a bit harder since there are so few of us who have them, and the behavior of the two configurations is almost unrelated when it comes to the control of gas and air.
But....roasting is roasting and we will all be looking forward to another lesson.
Right off at the start of this video the tidbit Joe shared about using 3/4 of the drum's capacity was affirming since I have found that 350 grams is the sweet spot in my HUKY 500.
