Quest drum size?

Postby farmroast on Fri Jul 29, 2011 7:54 pm

I'm considering a DIY drum roaster build. I was at a national dairy goat show yesterday(no espresso booth :? ) and saw one of these. 4.5" opening 6"diameter 9.75" to the lip. quite heavy stainless. Talked with the sales guy and can get it without the handle too.
I'm wondering how the size compares to a Quest drum.
Anyone know the M3 drum approximate dimensions?
The thickness of a quest drum if known too.

There are two versions of the drum. The first units had a thicker drum than the one used now. Ref this discussion.

Can someone provide a picture of the back-side of the the Quest drum? I'd like to see how the back-side is perforated.
If only you can see what I've seen with your eyes.

DJR also uses a milk can as drum in his knife sharpener roaster. It is quite an impressive set up and roasts excellent coffee.

Perhaps asking him which size of milk can he uses may be helpful.
