Honestly, unless it has dual drums or some really effective heat sink system built in I can't see how it wins over the huky at first glance.

If it doesn't get beans trapped inside or have beans spilling out the tryer hole, that's the first two wins over the Huky. Not having to have extra components to cool while your roast (or moving parts around) would be a third. Price? Maybe fourth.

I won't go through the list, but as it stands now the huky clearer takes a higher position. All the cons you listed but for the tryer can be easily accommodated very cheaply) whereas the current negatives vs huky for this roaster are not likely easily resolved. My position is that we don't have enough information but current reports leave much in need before being a serious option, imo.TomC wrote:If it doesn't get beans trapped inside or have beans spilling out the tryer hole, that's the first two wins over the Huky. They posted a video on Youtube of it running thru 6 300g samples. I inquired about the roast time for each and a few other particulars.

If I recall correctly, under $1,400 USD is the magic no customs duty number..

Here's the roast times of the 300g batches in the video. Definitely no slouch.
The rear drum wall is perforated like most traditional commercial drum roasters. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up costing pretty close to the Quest M3 and would be an obvious choice for those not worried about the added height.
First & 2nd:
BRR 197°C
DT 127°C(1:00min)
First crack 180°C(6:30)
Drop 187°C(8:00)
3rd & 4th:
BRR 197°C
DT 127°C(1:05min)
First crack 181°C(6:34)
2nd crack 195°C (8:45)
Drop 200°C(9:05)
5th & 6th
BRR 197°C
DT 127°C(1:10mins)
First crack 180°C(6:35)
Drop 191.5°C(8:30)

definitely has some power. I was also informed the following:
Unfortunately we don't have manual controls on the machine, only Apps control only.
The 2nd page of my apps provide the graph of roasting curve.
And we can't hook up to artisan or other device yet. Wanna make it as simple as possible.

Seems like a bargain given roasting capacity, cyclone and separate cooling tray.

Here's another, shorter video. It shows a close up of the app running, dropping beans, chaff collection, etc
I noticed the trier in this and the previous video above is mounted horizontally, but beans don't seem to flow out if it's removed. The video in post #1 and some of the pictures on their website show the trier seated at a definite angle.
