I looked at the thread you shared and realized I may be getting the type of bread maker, Oster, with a DC motor. The guy in the thread gave up on it because he couldn't figure out how to wire it for continuous mixing. (Now he also didn't need to reliably roast coffee in a sandstorm, either. I hope you tell us how you did that!!)
Adam's bit that I don't need the Porter Cable level of variable HG because moving it closer or farther from the dog bowl creates infinite variation gave me "paws" until I realized I may prefer the delegation of mixing to the bread maker!
