Need a thin insulating material for a roaster - Page 2

you can always double wrap. If you buy a roll, you usually end up with extra. I think I saw in Macmaster a roll of 6" ceramic paper insulation for only $30. And $30 would be more attractive than +$100.

Cheers

If you guys are interested I can sell this stuff by the square foot or in a kit ?
I also have roles of the 8 pound 1 inch thick ceramic insulation 24 inches wide.

Its called Ceramic Paper because of appearance not that its as thin as paper literally. There are several thicknesses I have used 1/16, 1/8, and 1/4 inch. The 1/16 is extremely fragile and much to soft to handle without it tearing and falling apart, it really is only good as gasket material. The 1/8 and 1/4 are quite a bit different they have a spattered surface texture like it was sprayed on and it makes the material tougher and easier to work with as well as being thicker.

However ceramic insulation 6mm to 12 mm thick is probably ideal
This type of insulation is normally used in kilns and would exceed your requirements

I don't know of anyone. I have one of the first 10 hot tops to be brought to the US before they were imported for sale. The programing on it blows !!
I have been going to PID the thing, I could insulate it too "another Coffeewisdom.com project"

Yes I understand that its not like paper per say. I have used and handled the stuff
The air gap & thickness of the material is very crucial to good insulation
