Must-have Roasting Information

Postby slowhand on Sun Feb 28, 2010 4:19 pm

Can anyone recommend books, articles, etc. that will help me become a better roaster? I'm aware of David's "Home Coffee Roasting: Romance & Revival" and have read that Willem Boot has some good articles.
I've learned all I know so far from all of you and over at CG. Thank you all for that, by the way. I would like to soak up any and all knowledge to not only help me become better, but become better faster. I'm of the opinion that a great deal of it is learning through experience, but knowledge always helps.
Recommendations on Any sources would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Glenn K.

+1 on the Boot Coffee articles.

Also recommended are the recent How To Home Roast that Ken Fox wrote and the spin-off How To Roast SO Espresso thread.

Obviously searching the forums for specific threads on your roast method (HG/DB?) could yield more specific advice and don't neglect to check out the Sweet Maria's roasting library here.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. I definitely plan on checking out the Boot articles and buying David's book. I did read the "How to Home Roast" by Ken Fox, it was a wealth of info for someone at my stage. I don't do espesso at home, yet, but I can probably still learn something about darker roasts. I do drink all SOs at this point.
I was using the HG/DB method but will receive my Hottop B tomorrow. Now if I can just learn to use it...
