Basically any time you roast a full pound of beans FC+ without an afterburner is going to generate a lot of smoke. If doing indoors, you would need a good hood with a lot of capture space.
I agree, though, that the smoke would likely be pushed out through the bottom radially, which would not work if your intention is to provide exhaust to the outside.
