Hottop-B Espresso: A Fast, Low ET, Profile

Postby coffee.me on Wed Jul 29, 2009 4:46 am

One of the things I like about my HT is its profile-ability. I have one old Brazil bean that can easily give a burnt taste when roasted near C2. So, I thought of roasting it with the lowest final ET possible without going slow pre-C1. The resultant profile is this:

Image

Profile times approximately were:
4:40mins from drop in to 300F BT
3:00mins from 300F BT to C1
4:30mins from C1 to dump, notice how ET was slowly raised by ~20F during this time.

Batch size was 150g and weight loss from roasting was %12.66. This one started tasting very good, as espresso, the next day and continued to do so for the next few days without much change. Nothing burnt about this roast, rather I get sugar sweetness with sweet mid-tone bitters; round and lovely.
