I went ahead and ordered 5 lbs of the mill city yirg that you mentioned. I would have bought more, but the shipping to CA is horrible! (32 bucks for 15lbs).

Badperson,

I checked sweet marias for that Ethiopian but it was sold out.

I'm going to try focus roasting a single lot of the ethiopian till i can get a great roast.
WOW. I usually get 10#, with $13.50 for shipping.

So i've roasted 7 batches of the ETHIOPIA GELANA ABAYA - YIRGACHEFFE mentioned above. I find it very underwhelming. I dont know if the beans are getting old or what.

Normally when I roast a Yirg, as the beans are drying you can smell hints of the sweet florals coming from the roaster. As I roast this one, I get nothing like that. I have taken them from city to full city, with different roast profiles, and it just lacks any "Tons of floral, light lime, stone fruit/red plum,"

there are some hints of "slight caramel, sarsaparilla, and acidity with thin body-(not uncommon in Ethiopian coffee).

I want to mentioned that I am a huge fan of the Mill CIty's roasting videos, and staff, but I cant recommend this coffee in Green Alert.

I've always found a good natural to be more fruity than a WP. How long are you letting it rest?

You may want to check with Dave Borton at MillCity. Dave is an absolutely great guy, totally straight shooter, long time HB'er. I think there is occasionally a snafu on the shipping thing. I'd contact him immediately to see if that might be the case.

The biggest reason I keep buying from sweet Maria's is because I can get 20 lbs shipped for $8.

I see this thread hasn't been updated in a while. What has everyone been roasting lately?
Thanks.

Had a terrific rack of lamb.
OK, I'll play. One of my favorite coffees, sort of under the radar. It's the Mexican Narita Teruño DOP from Burman's. I has that brooding almost but not quite fermented blueberry thing, though not as strong as that old lot 30 SM Harrar.
Nicely priced as well, and Berman's has a special shipping price that is VERY reasonable. He and Jon are nice folks as well

Haha. There are so many choices it's always nice to hear what everyone else is enjoying. I just snagged 5lbs of the Mexican Terruno Nayarita from Burman's along with a few other things. Thanks for the feedback, Rob.
Thanks.

Speaking of Mill City and awesomeness- yesterday I roasted a pound of their Yemen Haraaz Red Marqaha. It's already got a strong aroma of strawberries and cream. Gonna be hard to let this rest as long as it needs to.
