Ive been working the Ethiopia Harrar Mesela gr1; from Bodhi for about a month. Saw the offering on Bodhi and got 5lb to play with, then decided to order another 20lb. no fruit bomb but been getting some nice blueberry & dark choc around 3 days rest.

I'm roasting SM's Kela Kochere. Not much like the description except for the snappy acidity. Instead, I'm getting both savory and floral notes, as if it were a blend of Ethiopian and Kenyan coffees.

The Guji Akrabi has the usual Sidamo florals and pit fruit, along with an interesting cinnamon and smokey mollasses roast note. Balanced sweetness, and a mostly pleasant hint of ferment. Good in the cup and will make for a nice complex shot.

I'm glad you said this. I just had my first cup a few hours ago and thought I must have botched the roast because it tasted nothing like I expected from the description. I feel what you described nailed it, and I'm glad to know that I just need to change my expectation.

I've been enjoying both of these immensely for the past few weeks, with the Guji Akrabi being my favorite of the two. I've been pulling wonderful triple ristretos (21 in 21 out) with the Guji. For brewed cups I find that they both are at their peak immediately after coming out of the roaster. The Guji has beautiful fresh tea notes that I feel drops off dramatically as the coffee ages.

Tried them at a friend's on a new machine/grinder/basket combos. The Guji was unscrewupable great; the Kochere was much more finicky.

I hadn't visited the Bodhi Leaf site for quite a while.
Then saw this gr1 harrar. Have know idea when it arrived. Hadn't had a nice prep harrar since MAO days. Usually the qc around harrar is pretty crude. Wild funky cups. But also have had a few nice fruit bombs in the past. Just arrived today and will roast some soon. The beans look and smell better than had expected.

Anyone tried this or know more about it?
Recently finished 5 lb of Harrar mesala from the gcbc looks like it might be that same or similar lot? Mine had a pleasant smell of light fruit even in greens and was def not overly funky. I bet you enjoy it.

Yes, I also find the Guji to be a very forgiving SO espresso.

I cupped a bunch of samples from this year's Keffa offerings (including the Harrar) and they were all delicious and meticulously prepared, indeed. It was a situation where I could and would have bought any of the coffees on the table.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Harrar...

Hey everyone, I just received a bag of Harrar Mesela roasted on July 7th. Sounds like the same bean. I haven't opened it yet and it's my first time using this bean. Here's what I ordered:

Any advice on how I should approach espresso and Espro/Aeropress with it? What parameters do you recommend? For espresso I'm grinding with a K10PB and pulling with an E61 HX. For brew, I grind with a Vario or Pharos.

Thanks!
