I was wondering if someone here knowledgeable on greens (and I know they are many) could comment on this greens offering from Burman.
2015/16 Panama Hacienda Esmerelda Geisha 1500 (whatever that means) for $8.99/lb. Past crop (?) that arrived @ Burman on 11/27/16.
I've never had a 100% Geisha (usually too rich for my blood), much less roasted one. Order or turn tail & run?

I had some of this last year. The 1500 is the lowest grown geisha from Esmeralda. It is grown around 1400 meters above sea level. It is a good solid coffee although there are two higher grown lots from this source that garner more money. Technically past crop while importers are awaiting shipments of the 16-17 crop. For $8.99 I might get some.

That is current crop until 16/17 crops hits the docks here around July 2017. The "1500" is just assigned nomenclature by the Hacienda La Esmeralda for that segment of the farm or a particular sort of greens. You can't make any determination from the name. Here is their explanation: http://www.haciendaesmeralda.com/thelab ... alda-1500/heavyduty wrote:...

Agreed and Burmans ain't too bad either.
I LOVE coffee from that area, btw. In 1988, I was living in David which is where I first learned to roast and where I consider I had my first real cup of coffee.
