Flea market sample roaster

Postby JohnPark on Mon Mar 08, 2010 3:14 pm

My friend saw this over the weekend at a flea market in Alameda. Any idea what it is? He said it was already sold so he didn't bother asking how much they wanted for it. Image

Thanks,

Very cool.

It's not a Probat or Burns design, where the drum turns the beans towards the back, and the drum tilts to end the roast. Instead there's a drop in funnel and door in the front, like on shop roasters. But unlike any shop roaster, there's no tryer hole. I couldn't find anything like it googling. Could be something really ancient.

Tom from SM posted another pic of that beast. If you're super-curious, sounds like he knows the proud new owner. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sweetmarias/4423011115/

Oh, cool, thanks. My friend Kent is bummed he couldn't buy it. I suspect not buying it just saved him a bunch of heartache trying to get it cleaned up and running ;)

Whoever bought this, all I can say is I hope that their fire insurance is up to date.
