I just so happen to have two new (Amprobe TMD-56) in their box should you still be interested and my email address is below my sig.

I have to thank KDM and you Eric for your help with the Amprobe, and Arpi for those Mac drivers! I've had about 10 roasts on with my Amprobe and it works great!

I'm running MacOS Lion on my MacBook Air!
Cheers!

Could you please link me to those drivers for Mac, I am having trouble with my artisan/mac these days - I wonder if my drivers need to be updated.

I BELIEVE it would be helpful if you said, "I have a Mac Model XXXXX, running YYYYY as the operating system and the Artisan version I am using is ZZZZZ."

Then again, it might not matter in the least bit but . . . :)

See the driver link here - about 2/3 down the page.

Hi Gismar.

The Omega HH309A has a different chip than the Omega HH806AU (different driver). The chip is in the USB cable itself (not inside the meter). The Center 309 I believe does not come with a USB cable (not sure). they are both the same meters 100%. But I think the extra usb converter (usb cable) was added by Omega. You would need to purchase an RS232-USB converter and use the supplied driver.

This is the driver for the Omega HH309A (supplied Omega usb cable) :

I know someone else on this forum bought the Amprobe TMD-56 from eBay (another online retailer's eBay store) and as far as I know, they have yet to make Artisan work with their Mac. So far I know of 2 people (myself included) that have the Amprobe TMD-56 working on their Mac.
That would be me but - in fairness - I did not get it from ebay but from Erics first link.

Now that I am back from travelling - I am going to focus again on making it work.

I think I had installed the VCP drivers but see there are also D2XX drivers.

Did I install the wrong set perhaps?

Evan,

Sorry about that. I was mistaken. I hope that you get it up and running. I don't think that I installed any Mac drivers except those recommended by Arpi.

Good luck!
Cheers!

Ok well the VCP drivers are the ones I need based on a previous Arpi post.

I am running my MacBook pro with OSX 10.7.3 and perhaps because the drivers only go to 10.6 is an issue.

I will keep trying. I loathe to swap to omega if the units are the same. I could switch to roaster thing or wait til roast master iPad app has wireless temp readings installed.

Sigh :|

Hi Italyhound,

It is possible that some of the functionalities of the wireless (incompatible) version exist in the nonwireless version (compatible) and that your meter may be set to a different channel other than zero.

Try this just in case in the Omega HH806AU (and Amprobe TMD-56 non-wireless):

How to RESET the meter to channel zero (you need channel zero):

To SET CH/ID to 00,00, by pressing "T1-T2" key and
" " power key for more than 6 seconds with the meter
powered down. The meter will set channel and ID
to 00,00 status. The second display will show 00,
which means that the channel and ID has been set to
00.

How to check the channel number:

To check the channel and ID of the meter:
When the meter is off press [C/F] key and [POWER] for 5
seconds, LCD's main display will show channel number,
the second display will show ID number.

Were you able to check if your meter works with the manufacturer supplied software?

Good luck.

Thank you Arpi.

The channels were set to 1. I changed them to 0.

I will now try again!
