Chocolatey Sweet Maria's for blend

Postby charlesaf3 on Fri Sep 11, 2009 11:55 am

Anyone have a rec for a sweet marias coffee that would add chocolate to a blend? I'm basically planning on a 4 coffee blend - the rwanda Robusta, Ethiopian Bonko or Moplaco Yirga Cheffe, Sumatra Lintong Dolok Sanggul, and I'd like to add a chocolatey note.

Any thoughts?

Charles

The absolute best espresso blend base I've come across in my admitted limited experience is the Brazil Moreninha Formosa beans currently distributed in Green COffee Buying Club by Stubbie. It is full of cocoa, bittersweet chocolate with orange zest notes as a SO espresso. Delicious! I've been blending it with many different beans from Ethiopia, Yemen, Java, Sumatra and Nicaragua with everyone being at least good.

SM had a similar "raisined" version of this bean earlier in the year that I did not try. The GCBC is a nice place to buy very high quality greens at good prices. This Brazil is very affordabvle and in abundant supply. I intend to keep it in my stash as long as I can.

I'm not familiar with GCBC, will google them - I've seen them mentioned on here a few times.

Here they are: http://www.greencoffeebuyingclub.com/index.php

The Brasil M.F. is under Vendor offerings and is a staple for me as well. In fact I just recently ordered another 10 pounds because I generally roast this coffee every week for espresso blends. I tried the raisin lot at Sweet Maria's and found it to be very similar for espresso (with a bit more fruit in the presspot)
