Behmor bean temperature probes

Postby JohnM on Fri Mar 07, 2008 8:24 pm

I found some time today to play with my behmor bean probe while roasting up a batch. These plots are from 378 gram batches roasted with P2 profile. Provided in the interest of sharing results of bean probe setups.

What probe are you using for your Behmor John? I have not been able to find anything that will work with the rotating drum.

Ed,
These roasts ended with 2nd just starting, at 404, 444 and 445°F. My exhaust hood is really loud making onset of 1st hard to identify. I put it at about 350 for the decaf and 380°F for the other two.
The door was opened on the decaf and yirg roasts when cooling started; I had some chaf glow on the brasil and closed it a couple times.

Flyrod,
I voided my warrantee by drilling a hole in the side of the roaster, and one through the drum pivot. I use a 0.010" diameter thermocouple probe that sits at half depth in the beans. I'll admit this is a purely unnecessary modification; I'm not suggesting anyone do it.
