I see this question was asked earlier, but I don't see a response...

I believe that I posted about this earlier, but the chaff filter on the back has a small (some say too small) square or rectangular opening that an adapter will plug into to connect to standard 3" vent pipe. You'll probably need to vent the exhaust outside as there's no smoke suppression built in that I know of.

The video from feb clearly shows smoke venting out the top pipe at 2:21

Yes - you did!

This collector looks like it could get clogged and the venting on it doesn't look up to the task for a 1 K roaster, but they weren't doing any actual roasting at the show, just show and tell.
Thank you for reiterating, and more importantly - thanks for the review (as much as you could!). I think like many, I'm very much on the fence, and I really want this machine to be what we think it is right now.

I just want to make it clear that these guys are nothing to do with me or Cafelat, regardless of what they told people in person at SCAA or on their LinkedIn. We have asked them and LinkedIn to stop this but get ignored. One of them, Jonas, is a photographer who took some photos of our products a few years ago and that is all and has never been employed by me or Cafelat.

Where the roasting bit comes in, I have no idea.

Things are mighty quiet 'round these parts. Is this roaster going to make an appearance sometime soon?

I haven't heard any updates since the show: SCAA 2015 Product Debuts. The following quote assumes no production delays, which is probably unrealistic given the realities of first customer ship / general customer availability production schedules.

There projected time to be done with the 110v version of this roaster was "summer", but that was about a month and half ago. So I dont know if this is still there target or not.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think induction is a great heat source because I don't think conduction (from the drum) is a great way to heat beans.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a microwave roaster. Or at least a conventional roaster with a built in microwave emitter. This would allow roasters to target internal development specifically. I think that would revolutionize roasting. I don't have the skills necessary to try this out at home (at least, without getting cancer or burning myself).
