Doesn't it make sense if the grinder is on a bar, and the rear side (with Mazzer Logo) faces the customer?

Without enough bar experience to my credit, I'll just say yes. I have read a lot of forum(s) posts over the years and have not run into anyone else "complaining" about this routing so I suppose I was being a little picky. However, when they responded to me with something similar to "that's the way we've always done it" and it was NOT Scarlett J. doing the talking, I was a bit peeved.

And then, after I fixed mine (cord exits the rear at the base), the next task was to determine what threading they used to mount the original cord gripper. Even with enough micrometers and calipers and thread pitch gages to outfit a small machine shop, I am at a loss to identify these threads with any known likeness - they measure up to be ~ 0.725-18 .

Thanks for the complete set of Mazzer wiring diagrams. This is so deeply and obscurely buried here I think it merits a thread of its own.
