The timer is adjusted WAY more than the grinder.

Guys the Fisher timer (5057) has a max 1/3 HP rating, and so does the GraLab 450 (albeit with lower wattage)...how would these work with something like a Major with 1HP motor rating?

Anyone looked at this one?

With a relay and a button you would have a very exact timer, and you can configure it any way you want.

When I used one with a Robur, I used a 'second layer' high-amp rated 110V SSR that powered the Robur; the Gralab I had was simply switching the SSR. It uses 2 plugs, but it protects the timer perfectly.

Can you post a link to something like this and explain how you connected it? When it comes to electrics, I'm sort of lacking...lol

First side:

Outlet -> Timer then Timer Out AC -> SSR AC Control Input.

The SSR is a AC/AC type Single Pole, Normally Open type.

Second side:

Outlet -> SSR Load side -> Grinder power cord.

This places little load (maybe 10's of mA) on the timer contact switches which could burn or foul from the load of the grinder.

Ok makes sense, thanks!

Can you provide a link to a specific SSR? Do you plug the main 3 prong plug or do you need to dismantle the wiring?

Sorry for the many questions, but I'd just like to know what people are using exactly.

Thanks so much

I don't know US regulations, but in Finland you would have to switch both the live and the neutral, which makes it a bit of a problem with the "single pole" SSR. Still, if you enclose everything in plastic and don't start selling anything I don't see much of a problem.
