The Waring grinder timer is back - Page 4

Certainly looks like it'll work. But for potentially far less, check eBay for GraLab timers. Here's one ending today...

I have a variation of this one, and wish I had exactly this one. The hard-switches to select certain settings like 1/10's of second, etc. would be nicer than the solid-state switches I have that reset whenever the timer is turned off.

I won an Ebay auction for a nice Time-O-Lite M-72 darkroom timer a couple days ago for a whopping $3.25. This is a 1000wt/60 second timer & should be more suitable for use with Majors & SJs then the lower rated (watts) but more common Gralab 300s.

I don't think most darkroom timers are rated high enough to be used with the Titan grinders. The timer I linked is rated for a full 1800W.

I'll e-mail the manufacturer to see if it's suitable for how we'd use it.

You can always use the timer to actuate a relay... or switch out the relay that's inside for a higher capacity one.

I guess it depends which Titan you own. According to the Operation Manual that came with my M-72 it is rated for a 1000wt output load & your K10WBC is rated at 760wt. It's running my Major with no issue & considering that it will only be running for a few seconds at a time I certainly don't see an issue.

The Waring CAT1 is a fantastic timer. I used it for 5 years. It was produced all the time, just hard to find. I bought it through a distributor 5 years ago and they had to check back with Waring.
Easy to clean, easy to setup, robust, has the pulse button. The only thing as mentioned above is the lack of smaller increments than 1sec.

I was able to locate copies of the manuals for the timers I posted early. It sounds like the 5057 controller is ideal for use as a grinder timer. It basically works exactly the same as the Waring timer, just with greater precision. There is actually a cafe in the States using these for grinder timing (link). I sent them a tweet about it, and apparently they've been working perfectly all year. I'm not sure which of the two models they're using.

5057 is the one, but usability looks like a pain compared to an enlarger timer.

Setting the time seems a litle fiddly, but not a huge pain.

A grinder timer should have a quick, no-brainer adjustment control, because you usually need to adjust the timer each time you adjust the grind.
