Too coarse, next moment too fine !!! ?

Postby Coffeeguide on Sun Aug 21, 2011 3:10 pm

Having some difficulty in setting the correct grind setting.

When adjusting the grind setting, it turns from too coarse to too fine.
Going in reverse, up the scale again, it remains too fine, even on the numbers where it was too coarse in the beginning !?

Feeling the shaft with my finger when it turns, I feel a slight wobble.
So its not completely centered.

Any ideas what causes the grind setting variations ?

Hear from you shortly...

Which grinder? Are you purging the grind chamber? Weighing the dose? Maybe the variation you attribute to the grinder is actually variation in your technique.

Are you running the grinder while you do the adjusting? You can get erratic behavior like this if you don't. The channels in the burrs get all plugged up, throwing off the grind. Disassemble, brush out the burrs, then reassemble and try again, being sure to run the grinder while adjusting, then purge the mixed grinds and start from there.

Hello,

I will give it a try while the machine is in action.
Thought you had to do the adjustments with the power off.
This to avoid teeth-grinding from the burrs.

It's a learning-curve,
thanks for your response

Will let you know if it works. :)
