Shortening hopper of Compak K10

Postby felixnyc on Fri Dec 02, 2011 9:08 am

Just received my new K10, what a difference from the Super Jolly. I am truly amazed, and I have only had a few shots. I do have a question in regards to cutting the hopper. I have the short Compak hopper, but still needs to be cut. Any members here successful in doing this? The plastic is much thicker than the mazzer hopper, and I will have only one shot.

Thanks,
Felix

You could always simply remove the hopper and single dose, with a Spice Island spice jar, which fits the throat of the K10 perfectly. As a side benefit to this, you'll find that your bean wastage is reduced considerably, as well as almost eliminating the necessity to purge the grinder to remove any stale grounds when you're first using it for the day. It also does a great job of eliminating any popcorning and changing to different beans is a snap, since you don't have a full hopper to deal with.

FYI, I've found that I can put 24g of beans in the throat and still get the jar to fit properly.

Thanks Keith. The throat on the K10 is much smaller than that of the Mazzers, where as I used to use a 58mm blind basket that I had from an old Rocket. I just modified the sweeping mechanism and works great.

You might want to take a look at this mod by JohnB. Compak K10 Chute Mods which I did on my K10.
