Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. Discuss them here.

Do yourself a favor, and put 8-10 pounds of light-roasted cheap beans through the grinder on day one, then clean the grinder, and enjoy how great this grinder truly is.

I actually got a deal on a demo from the Dutch Distributor, so it had 167 shots/doubles. So probably 4 pounds minimum has been put thru. So most of the break in has been done for me.

I need to play with it more. I disabled the fan as my use is several cups a day and thats it.

That's interesting about the burr set. I wonder if you can tell from the serial numbers what burr set I have.

Update:

The original Hopper was a bit over the top for my little French Kitchen so I went to the Standard Mini Hopper.

Bent the tabs back in the collar (flexible) and a couple of windings of electric tape make the hopper very sturdily placed into the original collar. The proportions are correct.

here's a Foto Kony Electronic with original Collar and Mini Hopper (normal)

Just would like to report that the Kony Electronic is a great Grinder, easy to adjust, and superbly grinds. The taste profile is slightly brighter, but wonderfully rich.

I had reservations about getting an non doser grinder and fears about "clumping" but this has not been my experience, in fact I rarely see a clump, and if you do it light as a feather and has no structure, so you can tamp without any problem directly.

There is a micro adjustment possible relationship between the fineness of the grind and the duration of the timer and you can get it exact. If because its humid or dry there is less in the basket after grinding you can just "touch" the go button and grind a tiny bit to top off, but now I've got it down and its exact.

Lastly, I just want to say how happy I am that no more messy doser :) Everything is clean clean clean.

I use the single dose button at a second and a half to shoot out the old stale grinds and then hit the double button for a 7 seconds 18g perfection. Thanks Mazzer, for building this precision tank !!
