The espresso from a ROK can be quite good, with practice.

As a beginner, my jugement is to be taken with a grain of salt, but I quite like the results from my ROK, since I bought a mazzer SJ. ..

I have just noticed the year old thread for the Commandante C40 grinder since the MK2 thread just appeared. In reading through the thread here Owner experience with Comandante C40
it becomes more obvious why some of you are worn down with cynicism about such grinder projects. Unfortunately for all of us, the Commandante C40 seemed to be disappointing to most because of the burr set used - and this burr set looks identical to the one in the ROK. So with everything that has been said about it and after a short conversation I had with the designer, the ball is definitely in the ROKs court to prove itself as a true espresso grinder. I have joined the cynics' ranks.

Have you ever heard or experienced "vaporware"? Vaporware exists anywhere you look. Once you experience vaporware you become rather cynical. Tends to promote an expectation of the worst and a hope for the best attitude. Maybe this ROK grinder will be a success.

Sometimes when you see some of the amazing claims you become suspicious that what you are being described just cannot be true. Hopefully not in this case.

Looks good. What's your technique with the ROK?

Thanks!
I described some parameters here Newbie with ROK espresso maker questions
Probably a better place to discuss technique to keep things on-topic, if you like :)

Latest update on the Rok grinder is that they have now added a feature which allows "infinite adjustment" between the preset clicks. The first 1000 grinders destined for the U.S./Canada will now be shipping 7/28.

John,

Got my Rok grinder... REALLY disappointing. The adjustment mechanism is under-engineered. The allignment is not that great. The body of the grinder is well made and looks beautiful, I am right now really in shock though at how bad the grind adjustment mechanism was designed.

Can you elaborate? In what way is the adjustment mechanism "under-engineered" - does it not stay put? The first reviews I've seen trickling in have been very positive. What kind of brew method / espresso machine are you using? What is the end result like?

Dying to know as mine should be here any day now!
