I have an MD40 and cannot figure out what this bolt and nut thing that stick out the side is for. Right above it is an arrow sticker. I looked at manuals and exploded parts lists, but no description of the bolt. I really want to dremel this thing off. Does anybody know what this thing is for? (yes, it is the old UV Brown color one)

That symbol means ground, maybe it's intended to ground the grinder to prevent static build-up.

It's probably just bolted to the case, if you manage to take the case off, you could probably just remove the bolt.
You could use a metal press-in cap to plug the hole that will be left behind.

Why didn't i think to look up the symbol on the sticker? *forehead smack*
Haven't had static yet. The grounds flow out of the chute as slow as molasses. I will most likely twist it with extreme prejudice from the outside. Removing the case is a pain. Good call on the press in caps.

Maybe not a good idea.
What does the end of your electrical cord look like? Does it have a ground plug?
Can you access the wiring by removing the plastic(?) baseplate?

it is a three prong plug, grounded.
There are weird screws that go through the back rubber feet. I need to remove them to remove the base.
The base is metal. The old MD40's have metal bases with that "hammered" paint texture on them.
The screws are star patterned. Not like a torx, but a "tamper proof" look. I will take a pic of them.
