Quickmill 'Replica' grinder - Page 3

Postby jn_nz on Thu Oct 22, 2009 4:45 am

I see you decided to pass on the Quickmill for now, maybe they'll offer it for less than $400. There's got to be someone using quickmill grinders somewhere out there. I'd still be interested in knowing if they're any good.

Thanks too Eiron for the reassurance. Yeah, I suspect I'll probably get my moneys worth out of the Sunbeam ;) and when I'm done with it I can probably sell it on and recoup a little.

So much for me saying I could be patient right! Hey.. it was a sale and I AM female afterall  ! HA HA!

Deon, here's my review of my grinder. It's got the same burr set & motor as both the Apollo & the Replica. Since my biggest gripe with mine (mainly) is the lack of doser/doserless operation, both of these other models should work quite well for their costs (especially compared to what you're having to pay for any other grinders!). After more than a year & a half with mine, I still have no great desire to jump into the $800-$1200 price range I'd probably spend on my next grinder. Can you get the Cunill Tranquilo grinder for a reasonable price? A new Tranquilo would cost me less (here in the US) than any of the QM grinders, so I'd strongly consider that model before deciding.

Jen, hey, it's not just females! On this site, everybody's got a waiting problem! I guess that's just one more reason why they call it espresso, eh?

Hi Guys

Well Quickmill was offered at $400 so I passed. Was sick of waiting with my Oscar sitting idol now for 3 weeks so I bit the bullet and purchased a Mini Macho from Coffee Supreme for $319NZ. These guys were absolutely great as far as service goes, got the machine home and to my horror couldn't get a fine enough grind for my machine aaahhh. Rang Coffee Supreme to find out it just needed a minor adjustment which they did for me promptly and everything is now awesome.

I have to say, Coffee Supreme is now my supplier of choice as I couldn't have been happier with the friendly staff etc. Well done guys!
