Mine is #200 mfg Aug 7, 2012. This one proved his new jig was perfect. Doug was kind enough to etch autograph it for me with mfg date and "Good Friends, Good Coffee". The man is a poet!
It is so beautiful I really hate to grind with it.

It measures exactly 10 1/4 inch from the bottom of the glass to the top...not top of Lido grind handle but top plate of bean entrance.

Good to hear.

Mine *are* actually a hair taller than that: 10 5/16 in. and 10 3/8 in., with the difference between them due to the height of the jar. In comparison, the height of one aluminum plate on mine is 3/16 in.

Making a Popcorning Shield for the LIDO

LIDO #6 is now complete. My only complaint was that it popcorned coffee bits onto the floor. A compass cutter, a 7/16 inch leather punch, box cutter and thin rubber gasket sheet took care of that. Using a dinky plastic compass cutter is a little tricky. The rubber sheet can start to bend and the blade can spiral inward if you don't take care. But I made it work by tightly gripping the blade holder. The gasket sheet is inexpensive rubber that isn't heat rated and was purchased in the Home Depot plumbing department.

I never had it popcorn beans out when I was using one. By the time the bean level is low enough for popcorning to happen the bean chamber was much taller than the bouncing beans.

Gary, I like your cover. It's a better fit than mine (discussed here). Originally, I didn't think "poppers" were a problem, but then I started grinding in the kitchen over tile and was better able to see the occasional escapee.
