The Heart on Burnside was using a Peak for one of their Kenyans the other day. I chatted with the barista about it and she seemed to like how easy it is to dial in.

It's hard to comment on how espresso from it tastes compared to other grinders, but the shot was pulled on the longer side, in a manner consistent with how many people use the EK43 for espresso. The shot reminded me of an EK43 shot, only the body was a little thicker. I would call it an improvement over the EK43 shots I have tasted, but I think EK43 shots are way too light on the tongue.

I was excited when I first read about this grinder (my wife does not share my enthusiasm) and tasting espresso from it has made me even more excited.

Nobody have any thoughts, that only the grindchamber could be upgraded in the old K30? the engine in the K30 looks to have enough power.
Or did the MK Guys made a complete new grinder? The inside off an K30 is big enough.

So? I did have an mk30 se and upgraded this to a vario, with the vario grindchamber, the vario knob I engineered myself, it did works exact as the Vario, I have a good reason to think that this the same motor because the power of this motor is overdimensioned, powerwise.

So you would need the larger grind chamber, larger burr mounts, larger burrs, ect. Probably could be done IF they will supply the individual parts but it wouldn't be cheap.

Mahlkonig parts aren't cheap either. Hell, if I needed to buy more than 3 components for one of their grinders, I'd probably be better off just buying a whole new one.

The upgrade I did perform with the K30 was 350 euro all included!

If I could make an upgrade to the Biggy for 800 euro, I'l go for it!

Any updates on the timeline for release? In the middle of July, chris coffee said they'd have them soon. IdrinkCoffee says October.

Not really any new information, but they posted something about it on Instagram on Friday:

"This lovely box of @counterculturecoffee is headed to Hamburg to be transformed into data. We have specifically tailored or #MKPeak to perform at its best with Medium to Light roasted coffee. We are dedicated to bringing the U.S. and Canada the best grinder we can possibly make. Sorry for the delays, but it will be worth it. #soclose #finaltesting "
