To me it looks exactly the same.
Step size isn't too different either. The Faema MC does 0.0167 mm step size (1mm thread, 60 steps/rev).
If they wanted to keep cost down they could get rid of 22 of those 25 pins... since there can only be three points of contact at any time.

It looks neat, but from a practical standpoint, it's more complicated than it needs to be.

I just got off the phone with Craig. We had a nice long talk about his latest project and his new venture with his partner. For those who don't know, a brief recap; "Lyn" of Lyn Weber Workshops is of course Craig Lyn, the original developer along with Paul Nahhas who brought us the HG-One. And drumroll..... Craig's new partner in his ever growing company, the mysterious Mr Weber, is a titan in the mechanical engineering world, who was very high up in Apple and patent owner of dozens of brilliant things that ended up in a lot of our pockets already. The CV of Douglas Weber is quite impressive and from first glance, he's exactly the kind of person I'd want helping me realize a new product in this vein. He's also very passionate about coffee apparently, so that's a good thing. Do an internet search for Douglas Weber Apple and judge for yourself, is all I really need to say.

My NDA on some things limit what else I can say, so if I'm not offering anything more, you all won't (unfortunately) be able to pry it from me till the proper time. I won't say what it's called, I won't say what it is. Suffice it to say, I'm very, very interested in his latest pursuit and I hear his passion for his work and delivering upon expectations seriously. No firm dates on releases will be made, but I'll get to play with something very unique and advanced in the near future.

Their new device (and components to go along with it) sound to me to be built with utility of a wide audience in mind. Very vague I know, but it certainly sounds like a from the ground up approach to make something useable for many and adaptable to specific needs.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays against the Peak and Frank Durra's beauties. I keep having to tell myself that patience is (supposedly) a virtue.

Hmm, well I think I can read between the lines on some of what you're saying. Last I heard from Craig he said there would be products released in the Fall (which it is currently if I'm not mistaken).

I'm choosing to read your "wide audience" wording as saying that I might actually be able to afford whatever's going on!

Whatever, super excited over here!

EDIT: Not really worthy of a new post, but I just noticed today (10/7/15) that their website no longer has the mostly blank splash page that just says "Expect Great Things" - it now immediately requires a login and doesn't show you anything.

I'm sure they've addressed it but how does that top ring not sweep the top of the grinds when you pull the portafilter out??

It looks like the cover plate is on the same track as the PF holder but can raise/lower independently. So you'd lower the PF holder after grinding, and the cover plate stays up at the bottom of the exit chute until you need to grind your next shot.

It also almost looks like the burr chamber is angled ala the Mythos. I'm excited to see the final reveal!
